Chelsea's defeat to Arsenal on Saturday night had many fans leaving the away end at the Emirates before full-time. It was perhaps the poorest performance of the season so far for Maurizio Sarri's side, whose grip on fourth spot looks to be slipping. After the match, the Blues boss slammed his players for the mentality they've shown in a number of big games so far. "I’m extremely angry, very angry indeed. This defeat was due to our mentality," he said during the post-match press conference.  "We had a similar issue against Tottenham in the league. It appears this group of players are extremely difficult to motivate. This is a team that's never going to be known for its battling qualities."In fact, Chelsea's disappointing display didn't just send fans home early, as substitute Andreas Christensen went missing from the bench before full-time too.

AN EARLY SHOWER?

Of course, his decision to hit the dressing room early wasn't actually down to what he saw on the pitch.

The Times had reported that the out-of-favour defender got up and left around the 75-minute mark after Sarri used his final substitution - knowing that he wouldn't get onto the pitch.

The paper also reports that his actions 'angered' the Italian tactician and that Christensen's behaviour had been 'noted' by Sarri.

It's certainly not a good look for the 22-year-old defender, who's professionalism has now be called into question in the same week that the Chelsea manager hit out at his squad.

However, this isn't actually the full story. Sarri revealed in a press conference on Wednesday that Christensen's decision to leave came down to something other than a bad attitude.

A NERVY ENDING

Apparently, rather than being angry at the young defender, Sarri was worried about Christensen, as he suffers from nerves on a matchday - and that's why he needed a toilet break.

"I was worried more than anything," he said.

"You know very well that Christensen on matchdays always has stomach ache. I don't know the reason but he is always very nervous. I don't know what to say."

It's certainly concerning that Christensen, who was once touted to become a regular feature in Chelsea's back line, suffers so badly from matchday nerves that they give him a stomach ache.

Still, many fans will probably be glad to hear that he left the bench on Sunday for that reason, rather than because he was frustrated with Sarri for not bringing him on as a sub.
