When the very first report linked Kevin-Prince Boateng to Barcelona, football fans would have been mistaken for calling 'fake news.'

Although Barcelona's hunt for a new striker had seen them explore some unlikely options, rumours of a move for Olivier Giroud or Carlos Vela looked tame compared to Boateng.

Nevertheless, the Blaugrana made the shock decision to take him on loan from Sassuolo, allowing him to provide back-up to Luis Suarez for the remainder of the season.

The 31-year-old has been wandering through the footballing wilderness since his departure from AC Milan and many assumed that his career at the top was behind him.

Boateng had devolved into something of a journeymen, spending time with Schalke, Las Palmas and Eintracht Frankfurt before his shock move to the Camp Nou.

Boateng's shock Barcelona move

It's encouraged people to make amusing comments about his bizarre career path that also saw him spending time in the Premier League with Tottenham and Portsmouth.

Yet, for all the criticism surrounding Barcelona's decision, there can be no denying that Boateng has raw ability on his side.

Questions are being raised about his temperament and statistics for good reason, but he is never too many games away from producing a moment of pure brilliance.

Video reminding fans of Boateng's class

And that's something that YouTuber ScoutNationHD is trying to remind everybody about, compiling a video of Boateng's career highlights in retaliation to all the criticism.

They've managed to put together 12 minutes worth of the Ghanaian proving his quality and as you would expect with Boateng, it certainly delivers in the entertainment department.

It goes to show that the Barcelona man has scored some truly stunning goals throughout his career and has no shortage of skills in his arsenal.

Now that's a highlights reel.

Ok, so it doesn't make Barcelona signing him any less bizarre, but it goes to show that plenty of football fans have taken their criticism a little too far.

Ernesto Valverde hasn't exactly invested in an out-and-out goalscorer yet it seems inevitable that Boateng will provide some special moments when Lionel Messi and co. are providing ammunition.

There can be no doubting that Boateng enjoyed the best years of his career at the San Siro and he'll be hoping for a second wind almost five years since permanently leaving Italy.

Hopefully Barcelona fans will get behind their new signing and give him the support needed for success at one of the world's biggest clubs.

Who knows, he could even bag himself a permanent move.
