Arsenal's bid to sign Barcelona's Denis Suarez on loan has been full of twist and turns.

Since registering their interest in the Spanish midfielder earlier this month, the Gunners have been told they will have to pay an upfront fee ahead of a permanent move in the summer.

Barca have no interest in keeping Suarez and understandably want to make sure he doesn't return at the end of the season.

But the problem is that Arsenal haven't got any money to play with in January, so coming to an agreement has proved tough.

Reports on Wednesday then emerged stating talks between Arsenal and Barcelona had broken down over a mandatory purchase clause.

Whereas Barca want £20m guaranteed for Suarez in the summer, Arsenal said they're only prepared to pay around £15m.

It was also claimed Suarez had decided to wait until the end of the season to weigh up his options, but that all changed on Wednesday night when he was dropped for the Sevilla game.

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde dropped the 25-year-old in favour of recent signing Kevin-Prince Boateng, who ended up starting in the Copa del Rey quarter-final.

And so, it's now become clear that Suarez wants out and is focused on sealing a "dream move" to Arsenal.

Suarez has held talks with Unai Emery, is convinced by the Arsenal manager's plans and wants to relocate to London.

Barcelona would rather sell the Spaniard to someone like Real Betis, who are prepared to stump up £19m, but Suarez is ready to take drastic action.

According to the Daily Mail, Suarez is currently refusing to join anyone other than Arsenal and will happily sit on the sidelines for Barcelona until the summer to get his way.

"The player has so far steadfastly refused to go those clubs and is prepared to wait until the summer to secure his reunion with Emery - even if that means Barcelona leave him out for the rest of the campaign," the report states.

That's some commitment from Suarez, who will be praying that Arsenal manage to negotiate a way out for him between now and January 31.
