The unbeaten champion Anthony Joshua, who holds all the belts in the heavyweight division other than Deontay Wilder’s WBC belt, kept the rumour wheel turning with his post claiming to be the ‘puppet master’.Joshua uploaded an annotated version of Russ’ track ‘Gun Lean’ with his four possible opponents scribbled onto the picture, with the caption ‘Next Ring Walk….COME ONNNN.’It has been a difficult period for Joshua since the scintillating clash between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury back in December. With a rematch between those two appearing increasingly likely after being sanctioned by the WBC, it has left Joshua and promoter Eddie Hearn scrambling for alternatives.Hearn was quoted in an interview with Sky Sports this week indicating that a decision will be made imminently."I think we'll decide this week, but whether we let you know is another story."There's three guys that are interested in the fight - and that's Fury, Whyte and Jarrell Miller. If it's Miller, it will be at Madison Square Garden in New York. If it's the other guys it's going to be at Wembley."His most likely option is a rematch with Dillian Whyte, but after claiming his offer from Hearn to fight AJ was ‘ridiculous’, this appears far from certain. It seems very possible that Whyte will leave the Matchroom stable and join either Al Haymon’s PBC operation or Bob Arum, leaving the fight with Joshua becoming more remote. For all the talk claiming to be the ‘puppet master’, it could be that Joshua is left with the only option of making his US debut in Madison Square Garden in New York against Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller.Despite this, Miller told reporters this week: “No offers have been made for a fight against AJ as of yet, it’s just speculation and talk.“I think it will be Dillian Whyte. AJ only wants to offer some chump change money, that’s why Dillian turned it down – and I don’t blame him either.“You’ve got to pay, plain and simple – but I do think he’ll fight Dillian Whyte next.”

Unfortunately for Joshua, anything other than a fight with Wilder or Fury next is going to seem like a let down in many boxing fans' eyes.

A rematch with Whyte will capture a British audience and attention, but also risks being overshadowed by Wilder v Fury 2.

A fight with Miller thus may look an attractive proposition, but again, will probably lack the PPV numbers.

At the very least, boxing fans will hope that by the end of 2019, we will finally witness the super-fight for the unified heavyweight championship taking place.
