Eden Hazard's return to the left-hand side of Chelsea's attack in the 2-1 win over Tottenham on Thursday night was a stark reminder of his ridiculous talent.

The little Belgian thrived at the World Cup and then started the Premier League season on fire in Maurizio Sarri's opening games as manager.

However, a few niggling injuries and Sarri's decision to use him as a 'false nine' slightly derailed his form, particularly in front of goal.

But with the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain, Chelsea fans must surely be optimistic about their star man playing in his best position alongside a top-class striker.

The only huge negative they will have to contend with for a while is the future of Hazard at the club.

He's yet to sign a contract extension, with his current deal expiring in 2020.

Real Madrid have been after the 28-year-old for some time now, with Hazard viewed as one of a select few players that could perhaps replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

Hazard himself has often flirted with the idea of moving to Los Blancos and a report from Spanish publication AS states that they are now prepared to go all out for the Chelsea man.

Real have now abandoned their pursuit of Tottenham's Christian Eriksen and have made Hazard their primary goal for the summer, seeing him as the new 'cornerstone' of their side.

And the Spanish giants are now, reluctantly, prepared to spend more than £100m on the Belgian, despite the fact that he'd currently be available on a free transfer in the summer of 2020.

While it would be a fantastic signing on paper, the form of Brazilian teenager Vinicius Junior on the left of Real's attack would add some doubt from fans.

The 18-year-old has become an instant favourite among supporters and is arguably one of the first names on the team sheet right now.
