Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic has handed in a formal transfer request to force through a January move to Arsenal.

As reported by the Guardian, the Croatian - who scored against England in the World Cup semi-final - is desperate to leave and make the move to the Premier League.

Unai Emery has identified the 29-year-old as his number one target, but the Gunners are only able to take player on loan in January due to their financial situation.

Inter reportedly rejected Arsenal's first offer to take him on loan and are demanding his £35m valuation be met in this window.

Inter's CEO Beppe Marotta has confirmed that Perisic is keen to leave the club before their match away at Torino.

Marotta said: "Perisic? We must accept the situation that some players show a willingness to be transferred. The player has expressed this desire, we want to satisfy him but we also need to respect the value of the player. Nothing concrete has arrived yet, we'll wait to see in the coming days."
