Gonzalo Higuain was the name on every Chelsea fan's lips as they welcomed Sheffield Wednesday to Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup on Sunday.

The Argentina international, who spent the first half of the season at AC Milan, joined Chelsea on loan from Juventus for the rest of the 2018-19 campaign earlier this week.

Higuain watched from the stands on Thursday as the Blues edged past Tottenham to reach the Carabao Cup final, but he was named in Maurizio Sarri's starting XI for the fourth-round tie.

The striker, who scored eight goals in 22 games for Milan this term, lined up alongside Willian and Bayern Munich target Callum Hudson-Odoi in the Blues' front three.

There were many encouraging signs to take away from Higuain's performance, however viewers of the 3-0 victory noticed why he started to grow frustrated on his debut.

The 31-year-old's move to west London sees him reunite with Sarri, under whom he scored a ridiculous 38 goals in 42 matches at Napoli back in 2015-16.

It didn't take long for Chelsea supporters to see what Higuain will bring to their team, who are in a real battle to retain the fourth and final Champions League qualification place.

Why Higuain 'got annoyed' during Chelsea debut

The centre-forward's display was full of excellent movement, intelligent runs off the ball to avoid the offside trap and nice touches to link up play.

However, fans also spotted Higuain getting annoyed with the players behind him for the lack of creativity and he abdicated his number nine role many times to drop deep and get involved.

One thing Higuain should remind himself is that Chelsea started with Mateo Kovacic, youngster Ethan Ampadu and Ross Barkley in central midfield.

Moving forward, the ex-Real Madrid man will most likely have N'Golo Kante and playmaker Jorginho behind him, and of course, the world-class Eden Hazard.

So, even though Higuain didn't score before his 82nd-minute substitution, don't be surprised if he ends up being a major upgrade on both Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.
