Tom Brady is preparing to take part in his ninth Super Bowl.

Brady has more playoff wins than the Detroit Lions, Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Houston Texans combined.

It’s no surprise, then, that fans and opposing players want to see the back of the New England Patriots quarterback.

Speaking to the UK media ahead of Super Bowl LIII, Philadelphia Eagles running back Jay Ajayi admitted “everyone’s going to be happy” when Brady, 41, hangs up his cleats.

The London-born Ajayi made clear the respect that he has for Brady, winner of five Super Bowls during his storied career with the Patriots.

But there’s a feeling within the 25-year-old that Brady’s departure will bring more parity to the AFC.

“Man it’s crazy, everyone’s going to be happy to see Tom Brady go,” Ajayi says. “It will open up the competition!

“At the same time you do want to beat Tom Brady, there’s a respect factor in beating him. He’s got the most rings, he’s the best.

“But the AFC, absolutely, because that conference will just open wide up! He’s been in so many conference championships, I don’t know the stat but it’s some crazy statistic.”

Brady continues to dominate in his battle with Father Time and Ajayi puts it down to two reasons: the position he plays as well as a tried and tested formula.

“Quarterbacks can do that, they can play until they’re very old and still be very effective and very successful,” the former Miami Dolphin adds.

“For him, obviously he’s one of the all-time greats. He does it at a high level, he prepares at a high level and he consistently knows how to utilise his supporting cast.

“It’s not a new formula. It is what it is.”

Ajayi knows what it takes to beat Brady in the big game, having lifted the Lombardi Trophy following the Eagles’ thrilling 41-33 win over the Patriots in Super Bowl LII.

And the former Boise State star has told Los Angeles’ players not to fear Brady, Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski and co.

“It’s not about that. It’s about us,” he continues. “That’s the mentality.

“They’re on the same field for one game. That’s how you look at it.

“Play the game and don’t worry about everything else.”

Ajayi’s advice could prove beneficial to a young Rams team that will be seeking to overcome the seasoned Patriots in Atlanta.
