Isco was caught joking about his Real Madrid situation while on the bench vs Espanyol

Isco's future at Real Madrid is hanging in the balance right now.

The Spanish midfielder has struggled to make an impact for the European champions so far this season and he's failed to nail down a starting spot in the team.

He hasn't started a La Liga fixture since October when Barcelona demolished Real 5-1 in El Clasico.

That match was also manager Julen Lopetegui's last in charge and he's since been replaced by Santiago Solari in the hotseat at the Bernabeu.

Isco has suffered more than most as a result of that managerial change and he almost finds himself in limbo at Madrid now.

He's been resigned to the role of a substitute in league matches and is only named in Solari's starting 11 when competing in other tournaments.

In fact, he failed to get off the bench at all during Madrid's 4-2 victory against Espanyol last Sunday. But it appears that he's not getting too downhearted about the situation.

SEEING THE LIGHTER SIDE

Marca claims that while watching his side from the bench, Isco tuned to Luca Zidane who was sat next to him and joked about his situation at the club.

The 26-year-old was caught saying "I don't play because I'm bad" by cameras inside Espanyol's RCDE Stadium.

That's quite a tongue-in-cheek comment for Isco to make, especially at a time when he would have known the cameras would be focusing on him throughout.

But it is good that he's able to see the lighter side of his situation when many other players probably wouldn't.

HAPPY AT MADRID

According to reports, the midfielder is still happy at the Bernabeu for now and will wait until the summer to see if his situation improves, or if Solari is even in charge going into next season.
