The 2019 Royal Rumble went into the history books this past Sunday, and it was a truly interesting event.

Fan favourite Becky Lynch entered the Women's Royal Rumble after losing her title bout earlier in the night and toppled Charlotte Flair to seal a match with Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania, whilst in the Men's equivalent, Seth Rollins stomped on Braun Strowman to book his ticket to New Jersey.

As it was well documented before the event, R-Truth won the right to enter at number 30 after winning Season 2 of Mixed Match Challenge with Carmella.

But as he made his way to the ring, none-other than Nia Jax jumped him from behind, attacking him and leaving him unable to compete, with Jax taking his place.

That move made major headlines as it saw the first bout of intergender wrestling occur for nine years, where CM Punk hit a GTS on Beth Phoenix in the Rumble match of 2010.

After eliminating Mustafa Ali, Jax tried to do the same to Rey Mysterio, only to eat a Superkick from Dolph Ziggler, a 619 from Mysterio and most popular of all, an RKO from Randy Orton.

Jax was then disposed of, and the sequence was a huge hit on social media and beyond.

However not everything was fine backstage after the match relating to how the angle went down with R-Truth.

As WWE legend Jerry Lawler has stated on his podcast, Truth had legitimate heat with Jax for her attack.

"This got heat for real, she blasted poor R-Truth in the face and knocked him face-first into that wall," stated Lawler.

"He was hot, for real. They were having to hold him back."

Rajah have also added that backstage agent and former D-Generation X member Road Dogg had to hold Truth back from going after Jax after hurting his 'face and ankle' in the attack.

Maybe this is why Truth got his United States Championship win on SmackDown to keep him a bit happier, but chances are this was decided before the happenings of Rumble evening.

It doesn't seem like there's heat from backstage officials on Jax for the incident but we will have to see how it all plays out and it any other news comes of it.
