Gonzalo Higuain's Premier League debut for Chelsea against Bournemouth in midweek was pretty much a disaster.

Chelsea lost 4-0 at Dean Court to drop below the top four and their new No.9 didn't have a single shot or create any chances.

Higuain looked way off the pace and his disappointing performance forced manager Maurizio Sarri to admit that he isn't in shape at the moment.

"He can improve a great deal," said Sarri in his post-match press conference, which he joined an hour late. "At this moment, he is not in good shape.

"He has played very little recently between transfer market distractions and back pain. He can grow a great deal over the next few weeks."

It's hoped that Higuain, 31, will provide the goals that Chelsea have lacked this season when Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud have played.

And against Huddersfield on Saturday afternoon, the Argentine opened his account.

Higuain latched onto a through ball from N'Golo Kante and lashed home from a tight angle with unerring accuracy.

But it was all about Kante, who proved there is nothing he can't do in midfield with a lovely assist using the outside of his right foot.

In the video below - or you can watch it here - the Frenchman spots Higuain's run in behind and carves open Huddersfield's defence.

Fantastic vision from Kante.

The 27-year-old's best position is undoubtedly in defensive midfield, but he's showed multiple times this season that he can also operate in a more attacking role.

Sarri certainly seems to like Kante further forward and who are we to argue if he's able to produce passes like the one above.
