Gonzalo Higuain's goalscoring account for Chelsea is up and running.
Having fired a blank on his Premier League debut during the 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth in midweek, the Argentine knew he needed to up his game against Huddersfield.
And boy did he.
Higuain opened the scoring at Stamford Bridge in the 16th minute by making a run in behind, latching onto N'Golo Kante's pass and leathering the ball past Jonas Lossl.
It was a thumping finish from Higuain and it needed to be due to the angle he shot from. Kante's pass - which you can watch here - wasn't bad either.
A brace from Eden Hazard then gave Chelsea a comfortable 3-0 lead, and in the 69th minute, Higuain added a fourth with style.
Hazard and Kante combined to tee up their new teammate from 25 yards out to curl a stunning strike into the far-right corner. He didn't even need to take a touch.
What a hit. Higuain's goal sent Chelsea fans into meltdown on social media, as you can see from the below selection of tweets.
Higuain has been brought in by Maurizio Sarri to resolve Chelsea's problems in front of goal this season and there's no doubting he's capable of that.
Hazard will be particularly happy with what he saw from the 31-year-old against Huddersfield after saying recently that Chelsea need a striker who can score three goals in a match.
"For me as a winger you know I like to play with top players," said Hazard, per the Independent. "With Chelsea I had the chance to play with one of the best in Diego Costa for three years.
"I think Higuain is one of the best. I also like to play with Olivier [Giroud] when he is playing, with Alvaro [Morata] when he was playing.
"This season we are playing well, but sometimes we miss the one guy just to score one goal. So we had a couple of games where we played well but we didn't score.
"If you have a striker who can score three goals it finishes 5-1, but at the moment it is not the case. But Higuain can do that. He is a top striker who can score everywhere.
"When Olivier is playing he tries to do his best for the team, but I think he is more like a team player than just a striker who can score goals.
"Diego was sometimes not this kind of player who you can play a one-two with, but in the box he was amazing.
"That is what we need. Higuain is this kind of player, he can link, but he can also be the proper striker."News Now - Sport News
