Gonzalo Higuain is off the mark after scoring a brace in Chelsea’s 5-0 win against Huddersfield.
The Argentine needed just 15 minutes to give the Blues the lead, firing home following N’Golo Kante’s exquisite pass.
It was the French midfielder who assisted Higuain’s second goal, which came through a curling shot from the edge of the area.
Yet it seems that the real partnership will be between Higuain and Eden Hazard, who also scored twice.
The duo completed 21 passes to each other, which is very promising for Chelsea going forward.
Hazard has had to carry Chelsea at times this season but now there isn’t as much pressure on him to score.
He can create chances for his new teammate and expect a similar service in return, with Higuain showing his hold-up skills against Huddersfield.
Higuain analysis on MOTD
The 31-year-old’s performance was dissected by Jermaine Jenas on Match of the Day and it’s clear that he brings everything Chelsea have been missing this season.
It wasn’t just his finishing that was impressive, but his slick movement and his link-up play as well.
“Higuain came alive inside the area for the first goal but he linked up everything really well,” Jenas said. “If Maurizio Sarri can get a tune out of him that will be great.”

And you have to think that his relationship with his teammates is only going to get better.
Higuain now has 38 goals in 37 league appearances under Maurizio Sarri, dating back to their time together at Napoli.
If he can keep it up then Chelsea have a very good shot of finishing in the top four.
They currently occupy fourth place in the Premier League table but are facing pressure from Arsenal and Manchester United.
Still, Sarri is excited at the prospect of Higuain and Hazard together.
“He is a great player,” the Chelsea boss said about his new forward, per BBC Sport.

“Apart from the goals, he is really very suitable to play very close to Eden."
