A mere five or six weeks ago, most people would've rated Manchester United's chances of finishing in the Premier League's top four as slim to none.

Jose Mourinho was sacked following a 3-1 loss at Liverpool on December 16, but since then, the Red Devils have undergone a stunning revival.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge on an interim basis and United have won nine of their ten games under the "Baby-Faced Assassin", drawing the other one.

Solskjaer's unbeaten run as Man Utd manager continued on Sunday with a 1-0 win at Leicester City which moved them to just two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

Jesse Lingard and Ashley Young both started the hard-fought away victory, and the former couldn't help but poke fun at his captain after spotting a bird on the pitch during the game.

Lingard: A symbol of Solskjaer's United

Lingard is currently competing with Alexis Sanchez, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, Romelu Lukaku and in-form Marcus Rashford for a place in United's front three.

However, he's become somewhat of a regular in the big matches due to his blend of movement, positional versatility and speed to enhance counter-attacks.

Against Leicester, Lingard began on the right-wing but often drifted into a number ten role and was only taken off when Solskjaer wanted to bring on Phil Jones to help see out the narrow win.

Lingard mocks Young on Instagram

On Sunday evening, Lingard discovered that a bird managed to make its way onto the King Power Stadium pitch whilst Leicester 0-1 Man Utd was taking place.

In addition to posting an image of the bird, the 26-year-old United man wrote the caption: "Absolute animal out there today (referring to the bird). Glad Ashley Young stayed away."

This was an obvious reference to the moment back in August 2014, over five years ago, when bird poop dropped into Young's mouth as he furiously shouted at a teammate.

Young's unfortunate incident occurred during a 2-1 loss to Swansea at Old Trafford, which you can see below if you've forgotten or simply want to have a laugh.

If anyone was in any doubt that Lingard was mocking the 33-year-old, he removed it by including both the laughing face and poo emojis at the end of his message.

On a more serious note, Lingard, who's scored five goals this season, will hope to be back in action against Fulham, where a win will see United move into the top four.
