Liverpool fans slam Roberto Firmino's performance during 1-1 draw with West Ham

With Spurs and Manchester City winning at the weekend, the pressure was very much on Liverpool for their trip to West Ham on Monday night.

Jurgen Klopp’s side went into the game just two points clear of City and four ahead of Spurs.

Following their disappointing 1-1 draw with Leicester on Wednesday, anything other than victory for Liverpool would have been a massive blow to their title hopes.

However, once again they failed to win.

Sadio Mane may have given the away side the lead thanks to the assistant referee failing to spot James Milner in a clear offside position.

But the Hammers equalised just six minutes later thanks to Michail Antonio’s strike.

And that’s how the scores stayed as Liverpool drew their second consecutive match.

And you couldn’t really argue that they deserved the three points.

In fact, it was West Ham that had the better of the chances and may feel they should have won the game.

It was a below-par display from Liverpool but there was one man getting plenty of stick on Twitter for his performance - Roberto Firmino.

The Brazilian has often been dropped deeper this season to accommodate Mohamed Salah.

But Firmino constantly lost possession and attacks often broke down whenever he got on the ball.

And despite being such an important player for the side usually, Liverpool fans didn’t hesitate in criticising him on social media.

Check out the reaction to Firmino’s performance on Twitter:

Firmino was actually taken off with 15 minutes remaining and was replaced by Divock Origi.

That just shows just ineffective Firmino was during the game.

City now have the chance to go back top of the Premier League when they travel to Merseyside to face Everton on Wednesday night.

Liverpool will be looking to respond when they host Bournemouth on Saturday.
