Liverpool may be three points clear at the top of the Premier League but they certainly won’t be celebrating their lead.

Last Wednesday, the Reds were on the brink of going seven points clear as Sadio Mane’s early goal put them 1-0 ahead against Leicester.

This Wednesday, they could be second.

That must be tough to take.

Draws against Leicester and now West Ham has seen Manchester City become favourites to win the league.

And Jurgen Klopp allowed frustrations to get the better of him at full-time.

Klopp’s side benefitted from the assistant referee failing to see James Milner standing in an offside position before he set up Sadio Mane to give Liverpool the lead.

However, the German boss was seen remonstrating with the officials after the match after the 1-1 draw.

He should’ve been thanking them, surely?

However, Klopp actually believed that the officials gave West Ham too many decisions in the second-half because he knew they had made a mistake for Mane’s goal.

"I think it's a deserved draw. We were not at our best,” Klopp admitted.

"We had good moments, scored a goal that was offside but I think the ref knew at half-time and you saw there were a lot of strange situations - not decisive, just rhythm breakers...50-50s, 60-40s, free-kick for the other team.

"I heard our goal was offside, I'm pretty sure the ref knew that.

"I said to the referee about a lot of situations, I was really calm... it's nothing serious. He didn't respond nicely and I said, 'is that the way we talk now?' and he said, 'we don't talk at all.’”

While Liverpool were fortunate that Mane’s goal was allowed, they were almost gifted an injury-time winner by the assistant referee’s incapabilities once again.

Divock Origi was played through by Naby Keita but, after being adjudged to be onside, couldn’t finish past Lukasz Fabianski.

If Origi had scored that, there’s no way Klopp could have any complaints about the officiating at the end of the game.
