Victor Lindelof has delivered his finest form at Manchester United recently.

Although every player has felt the benefits of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's arrival, the Swedish defender has been one of the biggest beneficiaries and looks to be enjoying his football right now.

Long gone are suggestions from Jamie Carragher that Lindelof is out of his depth at this level and in are arguments that he's the best defender at the club.

There was plenty of excitement surrounding the 24-year-old when he moved to Old Trafford in the summer of 2017, but his debut season did little to inspire.

He spent those first six months alongside his compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimovic who has going through struggles of his own, albeit related to a long-term knee injury.

Lindelof's recent form

Nevertheless, it must have been good for Lindelof to meet a Sweden teammates upon his arrival and it's clear that Ibrahimovic has been keeping an eye on him, even after his LA Galaxy move.

Speaking to BetHard and per the Mirror, he revealed his happiness at Lindelof's recent turnaround, remarking: "I think he had a difficult time in the beginning, but I think that is typical Swedish.

"When you come somewhere, you are friendly to everybody. You play, you don't play, you still feel in friendly situation."

Zlatan's advice to Lindelof

What's wrong with being too friendly, Zlatan? Well that's exactly the crux of recent advice that Ibrahimovic has offered with the 37-year-old revealing the tough words he gave to Lindelof.

"I explained to him, 'listen, all these players are conquerors. You're here to survive. You're not here to be friendly to everybody so you need to perform," Ibrahimovic recounted.

"If you don't perform, the club has no problems with selling [you], That's the way it is.

"And I think he's been doing good lately. He's playing much more after a first year of struggling."

It's fair to say Ibrahimovic didn't mince his words.

The LA Galaxy forward speaks a lot of sense, though. To become a top defender in the Premier League you need to have a ruthless streak and Lindelof was certainly fighting for his future.

There was speculation that he could leave on loan last summer, but his recent performances have rubbished any such rumour and clearly Ibrahimovic's advice has helped along the way.

He concluded by saying: "I think he has more confidence when he plays.

"Hopefully he can continue and be strong mentally because I don't think it's about the quality, it's more in the head.

"I've always said 50% is in your head it doesn't matter how good you are if you cant make it mentally, you will not survive."
