Barcelona needed a hero after going 1-0 down at home to Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday night.Lucas Vazquez opened the scoring in the sixth minute following some decent link-up play between 18-year-old Vinicius Jr and Karim Benzema.Los Blancos were the better side in the opening hour as Barcelona struggled without their star man, Lionel Messi. But in the 57th minute, summer signing Malcom stepped up to equalise. When Luis Suarez's shot struck the post and fell straight to the 21-year-old inside the box, he cut inside and fired past Thibaut Courtois and a crowd of defenders. In the end the game finished 1-1, meaning it's all to play for in the second leg at the Bernabeu in three weeks' time.Barcelona have Malcom to thank for salvaging a draw and after the game he spoke about how he's always been confident that he can deliver for the Blaugrana."[The] goal helped us get back into the tie. We will go to the Bernabeu with confidence," explained Malcom, per Sport."I've always been calm, just like when I arrived. I have friends who give me confidence, I have family, agents all fighting for me and also my teammates. I have a lot of support."Malcom's performance was arguably his best since joining Barcelona from Bordeaux for £36.5m last summer and he earned rave reviews from the Spanish press."Malcom, with his limitations, contributes more than [Philippe] Coutinho," wrote Marca. "Barcelona's best in attack, the Brazilian delivered the goods and even got on the scoresheet."While Sport claimed: "Malcom was the star of [El] Clasico for Barcelona."Marca's line about Malcom contributing more than Coutinho is most interesting and it seems Barcelona fans are in agreement.A video has emerged of Malcom's highlights from the 1-1 draw and Barca fans have been commenting that he deserves to start over Coutinho going forward.

"If he (Malcom) got half the opportunities Coutinho is getting right now he'd really shine," wrote one Barcelona fan on Reddit.

Another stated: "Malcom over Coutinho. Coutinho should be sold for maximum profit."

Malcom's stock is rising at Barcelona, whereas things just keep getting worse for Coutinho.

Barca next face Athletic Bilbao in La Liga before hosting Valladolid, so it will be interesting to see what manager Ernesto Valverde makes of Malcom's rise and Coutinho's fall.
