Ten people confirmed dead in fire at Flamengo's training ground

A fire at Flamengo's training ground killed 10 people and injured a further three on Friday morning, Rio de Janeiro's fire department has confirmed.

Firefighters were called out at 5am to the blaze, which engulfed a dormitory at the Brazilian club's state-of-the-art centre.

It's reported that the victims - who haven't been identified - were between 14 and 17 years old and sleeping at the time. One person is in a serious condition in hospital.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage, but social media posts from local sources show the extent of the devastation.
