Action has been taken against assistant referee Simon Beck following his mistake that led to Liverpool's goal against West Ham on Monday.
Beck, who somehow missed that James Milner was offside in the build-up to Sadio Mane's opener, has been dropped for this weekend's Premier League action and told to "go shopping".
It was a big mistake from the 49-year-old that played a big role in the game ending as a draw, because West Ham were arguably the better side and could have won.
Manuel Pellegrini voiced his anger at Beck in a press conference on Thursday, saying: "I don't include the referee because it was the linesman's mistake.
"For the first goal, [Milner] was one-and-a-half metres offside, but if you see the linesman he was watching the ball, not the line."
Beck also missed Divock Origi being offside late in the game, which could have allowed Liverpool to win the game.
"The last play of the game, you can see the linesman is up with the line of play," added Pellegrini. "It is hard to see why he didn’t raise his flag.
"If we had lost 2-1 it would have been unacceptable. It was one mistake and allowed them to draw."
Liverpool fans have been reacting to the decision to drop Beck on social media and they've actually made a rather valid point.
Martin Atkinson had an absolute shocker during Liverpool 1-1 Leicester City last month as he denied the Reds a blatant penalty and only booked Harry Maguire for a red card offence.
Naby Keita was brought down in the box by Ricardo Pereira and Maguire tripped Mane when he would have been through on goal. Atkinson made the wrong decision for both.
So Liverpool fans are arguing that if Beck has been dropped for missing Milner being offside, why wasn't Atkinson dropped for making two huge mistakes?News Now - Sport News
