Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has brought the good times back to Manchester United. The Norwegian, who was recently awarded the Manager of the Month award for January, has now overseen 10 wins and one draw from 11 matches following a 3-0 win over Fulham. The Red Devils recovered from a shaky start to score twice in the first half through Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial. Pogba added a second from the penalty spot in the second half. The French pair have been among the standout performers since Solskjaer’s arrival, which makes Jose Mourinho’s treatment of them even more questionable. The win moves Man United into fourth place in the table on 51 points. The way they’re playing, it’s hard to see them not finishing in the top four. Especially given the inconsistency of Chelsea and Arsenal in recent weeks.Yet one matter that will have concerned Solskjaer is the performance of Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku produced a disappointing display

Lukaku was handed the start as Solskjaer didn't want to risk Marcus Rashford, who suffered a dead leg against Leicester.

While his teammates starred at Craven Cottage, Lukaku really struggled to make an impact in the match.

His movement was poor and according to Manchester Evening News journalist Samuel Luckhurst, Ander Herrera complained to him for not pressing on two occasions.

Just check out the reaction of Mark Goldbridge when Lukaku wasted possession.

The Manchester Evening News rated Lukaku’s first-half performance three out of 10, writing: “Woeful.”

And Man United supporters weren’t happy with the Belgian’s efforts, criticising his lack of involvement and questioning his movement.

Thankfully for the Red Devils, they didn’t need Lukaku to be at his best.

Pogba and Martial made Fulham pay for their early wastefulness and in the end, it was an easy three points for the Manchester club.

Solskjaer now faces a gruelling three-game stretch that will really give us an indication of whether he’s ready to become Man United’s permanent manager.

United take on Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday and then face Chelsea in the FA Cup fifth round.

They return to Premier League action with a meeting against rivals and title hopefuls Liverpool at Old Trafford on February 24.

Although given how well they’re playing right now, Solskjaer’s message to his players will probably be: “Bring it on.”
