Andrew Robertson believes Naby Keita produced his best performance for Liverpool in their 3-0 win against Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Guinean midfielder’s struggles since his arrival at Anfield have been well-documented but he was class against the Cherries, making more tackles (seven) and ball recoveries (12) than any other player on the pitch.

And his pass to Roberto Firmino which led to Mohamed Salah’s goal was superb.

“On my side, I thought that Naby was excellent,” Robertson told Liverpool’s website.

“He has taken a wee bit of time to settle in but today was probably his best performance in a Liverpool shirt. I’m sure he can take a lot of confidence from that, which he will.”

It’s only good for Liverpool’s title bid if Keita can play at that level for the rest of the season.

“He’s a fantastic player and the more he shows it the more people will start talking about him.,” Robertson added.

Naby Keita's highlights v Bournemouth

Keita’s highlights from the match have now emerged and they give an indication of how good he was.

The 24-year-old was disruptive in his defensive responsibilities and played a part in attack, too, always looking forward and initiating offensive moves.

It was just what Liverpool were looking for.

The Liverpool Echo rated his performance eight out of 10, writing: “Tried so hard to affect play in the first half and come into his own after the break, a brilliant pass helping fashion the third and his pressing, positioning and distribution much improved.”

Liverpool fans have had to wait to see this kind of Keita but it was the same for Fabinho, who also took a while to settle in.

But the trio of Keita, Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum excelled against Bournemouth and Jurgen Klopp has to be delighted by it.

The Reds responded perfectly to their draws against Leicester and West Ham, with Sadio Mane and Wijnaldum also on the scoresheet.
