Wilfried Zaha earned Crystal Palace a point against West Ham on Saturday.The winger’s deflected effort in the 76th minute ensured the Eagles’ secured a 1-1 draw that their second-half performance deserved.Palace attempted 17 shots after the interval, peppering Lukasz Fabianski’s goal time and time again.Indeed, the West Ham goalkeeper had to produce a smart stop to his left to prevent Zaha from making it 2-1.The 26-year-old showed once again why many consider him to be the best player outside of the Premier League’s top six clubs.Could a move away from Selhurst Park be possible in the summer? It wouldn’t be surprising.Crystal Palace fans would hate to see him leave and they can only hope that he continues to show his allegiance to the club that he joined at the age of 12.
West Ham fans were taunting Zaha
He’s adored by the supporters, one of whom defended Zaha on Twitter after West Ham fans taunted him during Saturday’s encounter.
The travelling supporters sung, ‘too s*** for England’ towards Zaha.
Palace fan George Hardy reacted to the song with a couple of reminders on Twitter.
“West Ham fans singing 'too s*** for England' at Zaha today. The bloke isn’t even English and he has more England international caps than Mark Noble 🤷ðŸ¼â™‚ï¸,” he wrote.
Zaha’s international career has been a contentious subject but, after making two appearances for England, he chose to play for the Ivory Coast in 2016.
It’s certainly not a case of him not being good enough for the Three Lions.
As for Noble, he has never been called up to play for England senior’s team and, at the age of 31, it seems unlikely that he ever will.
Saturday wasn’t the first time that Zaha has proven to be a pain for West Ham.
He scored a 96th-minute equaliser against the Hammers in 2017 to earn Palace a 2-2 draw against their London rivals.
Clearly, that last-gasp goal still hurts West Ham supporters.
