Back in 2014, one of the biggest heel turns in WWE history took place, as Seth Rollins turned heel on Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose, dismantling The Shield in the process.

Five years ago and fresh off their victory at Payback against Evolution, The Shield was in the middle of the ring on Monday Night Raw when Triple H and Randy Orton made their way to the ring.

The Game then famously stated 'there's always a plan B,' which resulted in Rollins attacking Reigns and Ambrose with a chair to join forces with The Authority.

Originally, however, The Architect didn't want to go through with this heel turn and split up The Shield. In fact, he was so passionate about not turning, he almost walked out of WWE.

Speaking on Edge and Christian's podcast, Rollins said, via Ringside News: “I wasn’t ready for it, for sure. Obviously, that was not the role I expected coming out of it.

"When they said it was gonna be me that pulled the trigger I was almost like, ‘No, I’ve been a babyface in NXT — Ambrose is the heel. It’s not the other way around.’ It didn’t make any sense. I don’t know how to do this.

“Honestly, it took some learning for me. I had been a heel in Ring Of Honor a little bit, but it’s just a different world here, you know? It’s a different animal working with different guys and the style is different. It’s a little more cut-throat.

"People looking out for themselves a little bit more, people are smarter. It’s just a whole different world.

“When we did the turn it was excellent and then it took me a little while to get in my groove. Trying to figure out, ‘Okay, who is Seth Rollins now?’ What is this character when he’s not in The Shield?”

Thankfully, Rollins was able to come to his senses and execute the heel turn, which ended up going down as one of the biggest heel turns in WWE history.

The heel turn propelled him to the top of the singles card in the WWE, where he has hardly moved since, winning several titles along the way.

Nowadays, The Kingslayer is arguably the biggest babyface on Raw and is set to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35.
