England’s Courtney Lawes laid an earth-shuddering tackle on Frenchman Mathieu Bastareaud during the Six Nations game today at Twickenham where The Red Rose hosted France.

The French centre, who stands at an imposing 182 cm and weighs 120 kilograms, was flattened after receiving the ball.

Lawes, lunged with great intensity and commitment, almost causing Bastareaud to release the ball in play.

England defeated their visitors 44-8 in what was an impressive showing by England Rugby.

In truth, the game was pretty much over at half-time, as the hosts once again flew out of the blocks, much like they did against Ireland in Dublin last weekend.

Courtney Lawes' heavy hit on Bastareaud was just one of many highlights in what was a game marked by its heavy tackling which put the French off balance and struggling to keep the English scoring in check.

You can watch the massive Lawes hit in the below videos.

The Six Nations has a break weekend this time next week, and returns to actions the following weekend.

France host Scotland on February 23, whilst England take on Wales later on that day.

That match in Cardiff is likely to decide who wins the Six Nations title, with both teams currently unbeaten.
