The December 1 showdown last year between two giants of the heavyweight division in Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder was one of the highlights of the boxing calendar. The ultimate result is still a subject of debate among the boxing faithful, although it seemed the British ace outboxed his rival for the majority of the bout, only to be denied by the judges, who decided the fight was a draw.Fury succumbed to the superior punching skills of Wilder, hitting the floor twice in the process - in the ninth and 12th round – the first time in his career, but, managed to recoup himself to take the fight the distance. After suffering the brutal knockdown for the second time of the fight, Fury remarkably got up to continue till the final bell. However, the Gypsy King, speaking at a recent event, disclosed what went through his mind at that time as he laid on the ring with the referee counting down.In the interview, Fury said, as per talkSPORT: “I wasn’t thinking anything, I nearly had brain damage!“If there is any energy in me I will always fight until the end.“From a heavy knockdown he then had two minutes 30 seconds to finish me and he couldn’t.“They can only beat Tyson Fury with a stick, while I am asleep.”

The highly anticipated rematch is in the final phase of negotiations, with both camps close to agreeing a deal for a potential May 18 contest, meaning Wilder defends his WBC title for the second time in six months against the 30-year-old.

Asked if there is a likelihood of Fury squaring off against compatriot Anthony Joshua, the former heavyweight champion indicated the possibilities are bleak, at least for the time being.

“I don’t think it’ll happen because he is a big s***house,” Fury added.

“If you don’t want to fight Deontay ‘skinny legs’ Wilder for $50million, then you aren’t going to fight me.”
