Maurizio Sarri is in real danger of losing his job as Chelsea manager following Sunday's embarrassing 6-0 defeat to Manchester City.

It was the Blues' heaviest ever defeat in the Premier League and they deserved nothing less following a toothless display - in every sense of the word.

Eden Hazard, Gonzalo Higuain and Pedro struggled to combine up top, Jorginho's pace was horribly exposed in midfield and at the back - well, Chelsea were all over the place.

Sarri's tactics simply aren't translating onto the pitch and the Italian is now bookmakers' favourite to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked.

He was asked about the prospect of being axed after the game and said, per Sky Sports: "I don't know [about my future], you have to ask the club.

"I am worried about my team, the performance, but my job is always at risk. So I am not worried [about that], you have to ask the club."

Something has to give at Chelsea as they struggle to keep pace in the race for the top four; Sunday's defeat meant they dropped below Manchester United and Arsenal into sixth.

And it's not about to get any easier. Chelsea host Tottenham in the Premier League on February 27 before trips to Liverpool and United in April.

It remains to be seen whether Sarri will be in charge for those games but he didn't help his case after the City defeat by calling out Roman Abramovich.

The 60-year-old was asked on Sky Italy whether he was expecting a call from Chelsea's owner and responded: "I never hear from him."

"If the president calls I'll be happy, seeing as I never hear from him," said Sarri. "To be honest, I don't know what to expect."

Make of that what you will, but Sarri seemed to want to make a point of never having any contact from Abramovich.

It's going to be an interesting couple of days for Chelsea's under-fire manager.
