Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has exceeded all expectations since his appointment as Manchester United’s caretaker manager in December.Eyebrows were raised when the Norwegian coach was hired to replace the sacked Jose Mourinho.However, the former United striker has won all but one of his opening 11 matches in charge of the Red Devils. Last month’s 2-2 draw against Burnley is the only time United have dropped points under his management so far.While many of the club’s fixtures during that time have been against teams lower down the Premier League table, Solskjaer has still managed to lead the English giants to victories over the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal.Reports suggest the 45-year-old, who is currently on ‘loan’ from Molde, will now be handed the United job on a full-time basis at the end of the season.Solskjaer was already a hero in the eyes of the Old Trafford faithful before his return to the club.It didn’t seem possible that the ex-Norway international would be able to endear himself even further to the United fans who already worshipped him - but he’s managed to do just that.Ahead of Tuesday’s crunch Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain, United fans on social media are currently sharing a video of Solskjaer talking about Sir Alex Ferguson during his farewell speech at Old Trafford back in 2008.Around 70,000 fans turned up to watch the testimonial match against Espanyol, and Solskjaer’s emotional speech at full-time - and specifically the part where he talks about Ferguson - seems particularly relevant now.During the speech, Solskjaer tells the United fans: “Next, I want to thank the manager. He’s been absolutely fantastic with me. He has guided me throughout my career. I’ve had my highs, I’ve also had my lows, and he supported me very well throughout that time and I can’t thank him enough.
