Gareth Bale's Real Madrid stats compared to three club legends

Gareth Bale emerged from the bench to score his 100th Real Madrid goal v Atletico Madrid

A lot was expected of Gareth Bale when he made the £85.3 million move to Real Madrid in 2013, which was then a world-record transfer fee.

And he lived up to the hype in his first couple of seasons, becoming a key part of the club's success.

However, the past few years have been a bit tougher for him.

Numerous injury problems have curtailed his progress and his performances have declined as a result.

At the start of this season, it was hoped he would step up his form after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, many believe he has failed to fill the void left by the Portuguese legend.

Bale has scored 12 times in 28 appearances in an injury plagued season once again.

Many have turned on the Welsh international, with some even believing that he should be sold.

Gareth Bale nets against Atletico Madrid

But, despite recent criticism in his direction, Bale managed to score his 100th goal for Los Blancos in a 3-1 victory at fierce rivals Atletico Madrid on Saturday.

And, after he reached the landmark, a football fan has decided to compare his stats for the club with Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane and Brazilian Ronaldo.

He's used a number of areas to compare them, including titles, goals and assists.

And here's how they look...

Interesting stuff. As @Twitugal says, the stats 'don't lie'.

All four players have played roughly the same amount of games, with Bale considerably ahead in the amount of titles.

Ronaldo has the highest amount of goals, but Bale is ahead of the other two and just four behind the Brazilian striker.

Figo has the most assists with 76 but, again, Bale is second and within touching distance.

Gareth Bale has won 14 titles with Real Madrid

And the former Spurs player has scored or assisted in finals nine times, more than the other three players.

Bale is being criticised a lot at the moment but, on the whole, the stats he has accumulated for the club are superior to Figo, Zidane and Ronaldo.

Perhaps the people that believe he should leave the club will rethink their stance after seeing this...
