Salaries in the Premier League have skyrocketed over the past few years.

January 2018 saw Alexis Sanchez become the league's highest earner by joining Manchester United from Arsenal in a deal worth £500,000-per-week.

In light of Sanchez's departure, Arsenal tied Mesut Ozil down to a new £350,000-per-week contract to make the German the Premier League's second highest earner.

However, since receiving huge pay rises Sanchez and Ozil have struggled for form and now find themselves out of favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Unai Emery respectively.

Barely playing means they're earning crazy amounts of money per minute of action in the Premier League, so we've taken a look at 10 players in the same boat.

Having only played 615 minutes after 26 gameweeks this season, Sanchez has mathematically earned a staggering £21,138-per-minute.

Everton's Morgan Schneiderlin, meanwhile, has earned £10,871-per-minute so far with his £120,000-per-week salary and 287 minutes' worth of football.

But none compare to Jermain Defoe who, prior to joining Rangers on loan from Bournemouth on January 8, was raking in £124,091-per-minute.

We've calculated each player's earnings per minute by multiplying their weekly salary by the amount of gameweeks played so far (26) and dividing the total by minutes played.

NB: None of the players listed have spent long periods of time out injured.
