Billy Joe Saunders has stated he believes that James DeGale will defeat Chris Eubank Jr in their IBO Super Middleweight title fight at the O2 Arena on February 23.

There has been no love lost between the pair over the years, as they have contested some spirited sparring sessions along with taking various pot shots at each other across social media.

The two men have a combined record of 52 wins from 57 fights and while DeGale may be four years older, Saunders believes the 2008 Olympic Gold medalist is still in fine fighting shape and will claim victory to secure the vacant belt.

"People are saying ‘DeGale’s finished, he’s over the hill," Saunders told Behind the Gloves.

"You can’t lose that technical ability - everybody gets old. Let’s say he’s lost five per cent of movement. Five per cent of pure boxing is purely good enough to beat Eubank. That’s all.

"If DeGale was a 33-year-old in-your-face puncher coming in [I may feel differently]… But he’s an Olympic gold medallist, tonnes of experience.

"He’s (Eubank) just not good enough, end of story.

"I can see nothing but a DeGale points win."

If that wasn't damning enough, Saunders landed another blow to the morale of Eubank Jr by saying he has no intention of facing him again in the near future, despite the latter saying 'he is coming for Saunders.'

Billy Joe added: "I don't know how to take that because he will be coming a long, long time because he is just not good enough.

"I'm not really looking at that level anymore."

The two men previously fought in 2014 where Saunders won in a split decision.

Saunders won on two cards 115-114 and 115-113, while the third judge had it as 116-113 for Eubank Jr.

While saying he has no intention to fight Eubank Jr again, Saunders - who currently has a 27-0 record - would be very keen in taking on DeGale, even though the pair actually get on quite well.

"On the business side, it's a great fight and for the fans as well."

Time will tell if that fight comes to fruition in the future.
