The wait is finally over!Anthony Joshua vs Jarrell Miller has been officially announced and will see AJ travel Stateside for the first time in his career.June 1 at Madison Square Garden is the date and location for the heavyweight encounter, and it promises to be a memorable night. The long awaited announcement for the April 13 date at Wembley Stadium never came to fruition, and because of the lack of time and lack of opponent, ended up being cancelled.Matchroom Sport chief Eddie Hearn has been the pivotal figure in the negotiations, as always, as they've looked at all possible options for their unified champion.Boxing fans have been expecting the news for weeks now, with plenty of social media activity from both parties hinting at an announcement.Joshua has been waiting a long time for a worthy opponent, but it seemed like it was never going to get over the line. However, it seemed like there were only three big names in contention – Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte.Due to Wilder and Fury's controversial draw back in December, a rematch between the pair was always going to be likely, leaving Joshua with perhaps only Whyte as an option.Wrong!

Although negotiations began for the possible Joshua vs Whyte rematch, it was made very clear early on that the latter wasn't happy with the terms.

Not only that, by the time Joshua and his team got in touch with Whyte, the man who defeated Dereck Chisora in their rematch last year believed it was too close to fight night in order to prepare.

This all-but ended the likelihood of a Joshua vs Whyte rematch at Wembley for April 13.

In steps Jarrell Miller.

A name that has been linked with Joshua before because of their heated incident in America, which saw the pair face off and exchange words.

The man has had 24 fights and won 23 of them, drawing the other, so he will be putting his undefeated streak on the line against Britain's golden boy.

It may not have been the preferred fight for many boxing fans, but it's the one they are getting for now.

Who knows, maybe after AJ vs Miller and Wilder vs Fury 2.0, we can finally look forward to a unified heavyweight fight.
