Khabib Nurmagomedov's suspension has brought a lot of variables into play when it comes to the UFC lightweight championship. He's not planning on taking a reduced suspension and also has no plans to fight in Las Vegas again after he neck cranked his way to victory when he retained the 155-pound title against Conor McGregor last year.

LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE

The unbeaten Dagestan native is looking likely to return at the end of the year, but UFC president Dana White doesn't plan on letting the lightweight championship to remain on the shelf until the bear-grappling Russian is ready to return to the Octagon.

Ever since his punishment - alongside the likes of the Notorious and The Eagle's teammates - was announced, plenty of speculation has been going around about what the plan could be for the lightweight championship.

Donald Cerrone recently claimed he'll fight McGregor for the title, while Dustin Poirier and Tony Ferguson make the most sense.

The latter is something Khabib himself predicted in an interview not too long ago.

To make matters even more interesting, Max Holloway has got involved in the fun and essentially called out El Cucuy, hinting that the two could meet inside of the Octagon for the interim lightweight championship following a Wikipedia edit.

BLESSED VS. EL CUCUY?

The edited article suggested that Blessed and Ferguson will meet at UFC 236 for the interim crown, with Holloway continuing his recent Twitter trend to target a rival.

He recently did the same when going on a tour in Ireland, effectively calling out McGregor and his Proper Twelve whiskey, and now brought the wing tattoos into the equation - something both he and Tony have.

Taking to Twitter, he posted: "Tony Ferguson is the type of guy to copy my back tattoo then tell me I’ve just been blessed."

While the edit could be completely innocent and clearly incorrect, the UFC is still yet to respond to MMAJunkie who reached out to the organisation for clarification.

If it does turn out to be true, it's arguably the most exciting fight the UFC could put together, especially with both men boasting impressive win streaks - but not everyone, such as The Diamond, will be too pleased if it turns out to be true.

It's not the first time Holloway could be entered into the lightweight mix either, as if things went to plan, he would have stepped in to replace Ferguson and fight Khabib, the spot which eventually went to Al Iaquinta.
