The Football Association of Wales have refused to comment on speculation that Sheffield United's Gary Speed is set to be appointed as the new manager of the national side.
Reports have suggested that the 41-year-old, who has only held his position with the npower Championship club since August, was set to be unveiled as the permanent successor to John Toshack.
But an FAW spokesman told Press Association Sport that they were not able to comment on Speed's situation, that he had not been interviewed and they were looking to make an announcement on Tuesday.
Blades chief executive Trevor Birch said that the club have not received any approach to speak to manager Speed .
Wales have been looking to make an appointment since John Toshack left in September following a disappointing start to the qualification campaign for Euro 2012.
Under-21s coach Brian Flynn has been in temporary charge since and is also among the contenders to take the job on permanently.
