Liverpool and Bayern Munich have 10 European Cups in their trophy cabinet between them but only one will be progressing to the quarter-finals this season.

The two European giants will meet in the last-16 with the first leg being played at Anfield tonight.

But neither side will be at full strength.

Bayern will be without the suspended Thomas Muller, while Arjen Robben and Jerome Boateng are ruled out through injury.

Franck Ribery was also left at home as his wife gave birth but has now met up with the squad but Kingsley Coman is struggling with an ankle injury.

Then there’s Liverpool, who will be without Virgil van Dijk due to suspension. Fellow defenders Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren will also miss out due to injury.

And then, on Monday afternoon, it was reported that Roberto Firmino was struggling with an illness and could also miss the clash.

Firmino is key to Klopp’s style and Liverpool don’t have a ready-made replacement for him, with only Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge the other strikers in the squad.

And with no disrespect to either striker, they can't quite replicate Firmino's incredible pressing from the front.

And the Liverpool Echo wanted to ask fans what they thought Klopp should do now.

They offered Liverpool fans six different line-ups without Firmino and asked them to vote for their favourite.

And there’s a clear winner with 59% of fans voting for the same XI.

Fans want Liverpool to line-up like this if Firmino is indeed sidelined with an illness:

In this scenario, Mohamed Salah would be expected to play down the middle while Xherdan Shaqiri would operate in a wide position.

And it’s Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Naby Keita that get the nod in midfield ahead of James Milner, with Fabinho moving back to centre-back.

Of course, Firmino could still make a recovery in time for the match and all of this talk about contingency plans could be a waste of time.
