Juventus’ £99.2 million investment in Cristiano Ronaldo really is paying off.
The 34-year-old has scored 21 goals in all competitions for the Italian giants, helping them establish a 13-point lead at the top of Serie A.
And Ronaldo’s influence is being felt off the pitch, too.
Spanish publication Marca published some numbers that showed the growth of Juventus’ social media channels since Ronaldo signed and they’re pretty staggering.
The Bianconeri’s YouTube channel saw a 136 per cent boost and their Instagram page grew by 10 million followers.
Meanwhile, stadiapostcards - via Marca - claim that Juve’s attendance has risen by 4.54 per cent.
Of course, the ultimate ambition is success on the pitch and Ronaldo was signed to help Juventus win the Champions League.
Bonucci: Ronaldo's a machine
That’s something they haven’t achieved since 1996, but this season presents a great opportunity to end the drought.
Juve defender Leonardo Bonucci spoke to AS about the club’s aspirations with Ronaldo now on board.
“If someone like Cristiano arrives at the club, then inevitably you will improve,” Bonucci said.
“Our clear ambition is to win the Champions League this season and that's something we don't hide from.”
Bonucci also gave some insight into Ronaldo’s work ethic, admitting that the the former Manchester United and Real Madrid ace can always be found taking part in extra gym sessions.
“His intensity and his straightforward manner of playing. He's the first one to support the rest of the team with positive words,” the 31-year-old continued.
“His manner of training is incredible, every day after training you'll find him doing extra sessions in the club gymnasium.
“There are times when his levels of stamina are simply staggering. He's a machine and I have great admiration for him.”
It’s that level of dedication that has helped Ronaldo win five Ballon d’Or awards and earn a spot in the conversation for football’s greatest ever player.
And it’s why many believe that Juventus are going all the way in the Champions League this season.
This is, after all, the time of the year where Ronaldo usually turns it on.
