WWE has already locked up a few big matches for WrestleMania 35 later this year, but one match they're yet to book is a WWE Championship match.

WWE has booked matches for the Universal Championship and the Raw Women's Championship at their biggest show of the year, but not for the most prestigious title in the company's history.

Daniel Bryan, the current WWE Champion, is widely expected to walk into this year's WrestleMania with the title, but it's currently unclear as to who he will be facing.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, via Wrestling Inc, Dave Meltzer revealed WWE's plans for Bryan's challenger at this year's Showcase of the Immortals.

He said that seven superstars are in contention for a WWE title match at WrestleMania. These include Bray Wyatt, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Kurt Angle, John Cena, Batista, and The Undertaker.

Meltzer also added that, despite his recent excellent performances, Kofi Kingston is not currently in the plans to face the WWE Champion at either Fastlane or WrestleMania.

He's under the impression that WWE will be bring a recognizable star in to face Bryan to encourage more people to tune in to SmackDown.

Bryan is currently scheduled to announce who he will be facing at Fastlane tonight on SmackDown Live, so many fans will be hoping WWE has changed their minds of Kofi when the blue show airs.

Seven WrestleMania contenders

From the seven contenders for WrestleMania, Zayn, Wyatt, and Owens look set to return to the WWE ring any day now, and a WWE title match would be a great way for fans to get behind them again straight off the bat.

Cena is the least likely match to happen, as there are reportedly other plans for him at the event.

The Undertaker pick is intriguing when you take into account his recent bookings outside of WWE and his age. Also, Bryan has never faced him in a one-on-one match before.

The Phenom wasn't exactly in the best shape either when he last competed for WWE at Crown Jewel. Still, never say never.

Angle would be an interesting pick too, but The Olympic Hero isn't the same wrestler that he used to be either. Like The Deadman, Angle and Bryan have never faced each other in a one-on-one match before.

As for Batista, fans weren't exactly fans of the last time The Animal was booked in a WWE title match at WrestleMania 30. Besides, fans are more likely to prefer to see him face Triple H at the show instead.
