Liverpool travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on Sunday afternoon where a loss could throw a further spanner in the works for the Premier League title race.

Jurgen Klopp's side are coming off the back of a goalless draw at home to Bayern Munich and remain short defensively with Fabinho expected to fill in once again.

United will be looking to continue their fine form and achieve a firmer group on fourth place.

The Red Devils have been adopting a more exciting and attacking style of play under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and this has lead to the Norwegian losing just once in 13 games.

United's previous manager Jose Mourinho was often criticised for slowing play down and forcing players to conform to his defensive-minded, laboured approach.

Despite the style not being pleasing on the eye, ex-Liverpool defender and current Sky Sports pundit, Jamie Carragher, believes that a more conservative approach was harder for Liverpool to play against.

"The way they are setting up now, they’re really attacking, on the front foot, exciting to watch," Carragher told Danish TV channel, Viasport.

"Maybe that will give Liverpool more chance in terms of space at Old Trafford," Carragher added.

"Whenever Mourinho’s teams played against Liverpool at Old Trafford there was very little space for Mane and Salah, they always found it really difficult in the last couple of years.

"So maybe that might change, maybe a more open game."

The former Liverpool number 23 did admit that the system United play is not everything and Jurgen Klopp's side need to amend what is a very poor record away from home.

"Liverpool’s record is really poor at Old Trafford since Sir Alex Ferguson left so that is something that has to change.

"If Liverpool could get a result there they have a big week, Watford then Everton.

"But Manchester United is the real big one, that’s the one where Man City expect Liverpool to drop points. If they get three points there it will be a little body blow to Manchester City."
