Atletico Madrid versus Juventus is one of the biggest ties of the Champions League last-16 round. It's a fixture fit for the final of the competition, with Juve seen as one of the heavy favourites before a ball was kicked after the addition of Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer. It was a slightly cagey first-leg in the Wanda Metropolitano, but Atletico will head to Turin with a big advantage after a 2-0 victory courtesy of goals from Jose Gimenez and Diego Godin.Ironically and much to the joy of Atletico fans, Ronaldo appeared to help Godin's second goal into the back of the net.Atletico had most of the big chances on the night, with Diego Costa missing a sitter and Antoine Griezmann being spectacularly denied by Wojciech Szczesny early in the second-half.Alvaro Morata also had a goal dubiously ruled out by VAR after he allegedly pushed Giorgio Chiellini.Juve struggled to match the Spanish giants for the majority of the game, with Ronaldo failing to stamp his authority down against his former foes. The Portuguese scored 22 goals against Atletico during his time with Real Madrid, but was effectively nullified by Godin and Gimenez. His best chance at goal was a long-range free-kick early in the first-half, which was comfortably saved by the imperious Jan Oblak and brought about one of the biggest cheers of the night. But Ronaldo simply couldn't resist winding up the Atletico fans a bit later on after receiving such a hostile reception in the Wanda.Footage picked up Ronaldo taunting the supporters by reminding them of the five Champions League trophies he has collected so far in his illustrious career.
