"In that position, I want a player able to move the ball very fast. This is not the best characteristic of N'Golo. N'Golo is very useful for us, but this one is not his best characteristic."

Maurizio Sarri made it abundantly clear earlier this week that he doesn't want to play N'Golo Kante in defensive midfield for Chelsea.

According to the Italian, Kante isn't able to move the ball quick enough in front of the defence and that's why he's been featuring further forward.

Summer signing Jorginho has been playing there instead, but Chelsea fans think the 27-year-old is too slow, one dimensional and doesn't provide enough protection.

Nevertheless, it doesn't look like Kante will be playing in his best position anytime soon and now the Frenchman has given his take on the situation.

Kante has never been one to make a fuss - he's class like that - and ahead of Sunday's Carabao Cup final he's said he enjoys playing further up the pitch, even if he prefers playing deeper.

"It's something possible (to play Jorginho's role), but the manager decides," he said, per Goal. "It's fine, it's fine. I like this [more advanced] position.

"Prefer it? It depends on the game, but I enjoy it. I'm with the manager and I'm enjoying the way I'm playing now.

"It's a position I used to play when I was in France. I'm enjoying participating more in the offensive positions to change the game. I am enjoying it."

Kante has also come out in defence of Jorginho, who he believes is "doing very well" and "very important" to Chelsea.

"Jorginho came this season," the World Cup winner added. "He is doing very well. He knows very well the philosophy of the manager. He is very important for us at the club.

"We are doing well. As a team, we have some difficulty at the moment, but we are all together and no-one's special.

"We missed many opportunities to be happy, like in the FA Cup and some games in the league. We can understand [the fans'] disappointment in our performances.

"I think we all want to get tighter and we will all be together for the final and the rest of the season."

Kante isn't the kind of person to moan and say he doesn't like playing in a more advanced role, but you can tell from his comments where he'd rather feature for Chelsea.
