Sven Mislintat announced he would leave his role as Head of Recruitment at Arsenal in January.

The German was only in his role for 14 months but still decided to leave, with his last day on February 8.

He said in January, per Sky Sports: "It's been an amazing experience to work at a great club like Arsenal in what has been a big time of change.

"I am excited about what the future holds for the club and am looking forward to new challenges for myself."

Arsenal have been searching for his replacement ever since his departure.

Edu and Marc Overmars are two names that have been linked with the position.

But it seems they have decided on their replacement.

The Mirror reported on Friday night that Arsenal have offered the job to Monchi and fully expect him to take it.

Monchi is highly regarded in European football, and has previously worked with Unai Emery at Sevilla.

The Spaniard was in his position at Sevilla for 17 years, joining in 2000 before leaving in 2017.

And during his time at the club he was was able to make some great deals.

An image has emerged on Arsenal's Reddit page, created by Sky Sports, that shows just how good they were.

His best bit of transfer business was undoubtedly Dani Alves.

The Brazilian full-back signed for Sevilla in 2002 for £500k, before selling him six years later for £30.2 million.

That was an extortionate fee for a right-back in 2008.

He was able responsible for a profit of £23.9 million for Grzegorz Krychowiak and £20.8 million for Carlos Bacca.

It seems he really does have an eye for a good player.

Arsenal's transfer kitty is expected to be fairly low in the summer, with the Daily Mail saying they will 'only' have a budget of £45 million.

That means that they need someone who is going to be clever in the market, who can identify good talent for cheap.

Monchi has proven in the past that he can do exactly that.
