Tottenham’s faint hopes of winning this season’s Premier League title may have suffered a fatal blow with that unexpected 2-1 defeat away at Burnley on Saturday lunchtime.Mauricio Pochettino’s side had a 10-day break before this fixture and welcomed star man Harry Kane back to the starting line-up.However, while Kane managed to get himself on the scoresheet, Spurs lost the match when Ashley Barnes popped up with the winning goal in the final 10 minutes. It was a bitter pill to swallow for everybody associated with Tottenham, including Pochettino, of course. The Argentine coach is usually such a cool customer but even he lost his cool after the final whistle, taking his frustrations out on referee Mike Dean.Spurs remain five points behind Liverpool, who face Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, and Manchester City, who aren’t in Premier League action this weekend due to the Carabao Cup final. With 11 matches left to play, it’s hard to see Pochettino’s men leapfrogging both Liverpool and City between now and May - although stranger things have happened in the past.Curiously, Michael Owen blasted Tottenham supporters live on BT Sport on Saturday evening, claiming they must change their attitude if their club are to be successful. The former Premier League striker claims Spurs fans are too negative and believes it’s harming the team on the pitch.Hear him out…“Spurs fans need to change their attitude, I think,” Owen said on Premier League Tonight. “All the time you hear ‘oh, we’re Tottenham, we always throw it away at the end’. It’s just such a negative type of attitude.“I think Spurs fans need to realise that they are a proper, proper team. Start believing that they’re going to win because that transmits on to the pitch.“They certainly shouldn’t be going ‘oh, we’re Spurs, we always lose’.“You read some of those [comments], it’s like ‘oh yeah, we always fall at the last hurdle’ - imagine if their players had that attitude!“That transcends through the club. If their fans are always thinking that - ‘oh yeah, we’ll get to a final but we’ll lose because we’re Spurs’ - I mean, they haven’t won anything for a long time but I think the whole attitude… Pochettino is working on it, bit by bit, getting a winning mentality.“It comes from the fans, it comes from the manager, it comes from the whole club being ‘we are winners’. And I just sense that whenever I read anything about Spurs it’s the fans saying ‘we’re a great team, if we’d spent this, we’ve got a great stadium, great players, great manager - but we’re Spurs, we always throw it away at the end.’ Well, they don’t.”Watch Owen’s rant about Spurs fans in full here…

Well then. Does Owen have a point about Tottenham fans - or if he talking nonsense?
