Aymeric Laporte jokingly refused to hand Oleksandr Zinchenko the Carabao Cup trophy

Chelsea v Manchester City - Carabao Cup Final

Manchester City won the Carabao Cup on Sunday evening thanks to a penalty shootout victory against Chelsea.

120 minutes of football couldn't separate the two sides at Wembley so spot-kicks were required to decide the destination of the League Cup.

It was advantage City from the first penalty, as Jorginho's weak effort was saved by Ederson.

After a couple of conversions, Blues keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who was at the centre of extra time controversy, saved from Leroy Sane before David Luiz missed another for Chelsea.

That set the stage for Raheem Sterling to settle it and he made no mistake, firing his penalty into the top corner and confirming City's Carabao Cup win.

Sterling's spot-kick cued wild celebrations from those in sky blue as Pep Guardiola's side scooped the first major trophy of the season.

The players couldn't wait to get their hands on the cup after such a draining final and quickly made their way up the famous steps to the Royal Box to receive their medals.

As is tradition, the captain got his hands on the trophy first before it was passed along the line of players who each got to lift the cup themselves. At least, all but one City player did so on Sunday.

Defender Oleksandr Zinchenko had to wait a little bit longer get his hands on the silverware because his teammates apparently still don't trust him with trophies.

Fans may not remember what happened when Guardiola's side celebrated their Premier League triumph last season - but the players certainly do.

The young Ukrainian infamously sent the PL trophy toppling off of its plinth and onto the pitch during the excitement at the Etihad last year, much to the shock of everyone around him.

And Aymeric Laporte clearly hasn't forgotten that moment. He was seen jokingly turning away from Zinchenko when he was due to hand the trophy on. Check it out below.

Brutal. Zinchenko featured in every single round of the cup this season but wasn't allowed to lift the trophy in the Royal Box and fans think it's because of his history with dropping titles.

He did though, get his hands on it a bit later when celebrations continued on the Wembley turf and that was well deserved after his performances throughout the competition.
