Eden Hazard is understood to have been left ‘dismayed’ with the farcical scenes in extra-time that marred Sunday’s Carabao Cup final at Wembley. This information comes courtesy of the Telegraph, who understand Hazard believes this may have been his final Wembley appearance for Chelsea before completing a summer move to Real Madrid.Hazard watched on bewildered as Maurizio Sarri went crazy in the dugout after Kepa Arrizabalaga refused to be substituted. The Belgian went on to produce a stunning Panenka penalty past Ederson to keep Chelsea in the penalty-shoot against Manchester City. However, Raheem Sterling was then presented with the chance to win the League Cup for City and the England international made no mistake from 12 yards.

Many Chelsea fans were angered to see their current caption Cesar Azpilicueta stand around and do nothing during the incident involving Sarri and Kepa.

It seems most of them would prefer another player to have the armband next season.

It’s fair to say that Azpilicueta is no John Terry - but then who is?

Like Manchester United with Roy Keane, Chelsea will never have another captain quite like their former talismanic defender.

However, new footage has emerged in the seconds after the Carabao Cup final, and an increasing number of Chelsea fans would now like to see Hazard handed the captaincy.

Moments after Sterling successfully converted the winning spot-kick, a clearly disappointing Hazard went and consoled each of his dejected teammates - including Kepa - individually.

The responses from Chelsea fans suggest they’d be more than happy if Hazard takes over from Azpilicueta as the club’s new captain this summer.

The chance to wear the armband could also encourage Hazard to think twice about a move to the Bernabeu.

However, it’s still hard to imagine that offer would be enough to keep the world-class forward at Stamford Bridge if Los Blancos do come calling.
