WWE followed up Roman Reigns' emotional opening on Monday Night Raw this week with another huge opening segment on SmackDown Live. Not only did Vince McMahon announce the return of Kevin Owens to the blue brand, but he also revealed that Owens would be taking Kofi Kingston's place in the WWE Championship match at Fastlane vs Daniel Bryan.Later in the show, Owens and Kingston would team up in the main event against Bryan and Rowan in a match which saw The Prizefighter use a new finisher. For the finish of the match, the former Universal Champion had the current WWE Champion in his sights, and instead of doing his Pop-up Powerbomb, he gave Bryan a Stone Cold Stunner.Owens even went to Twitter to tell Stone Cold Steve Austin himself that he finally figured out how to perform the Stunner.

Kevin Owens' Stunner

KO is a huge fan of The Texas Rattlesnake, and this isn't the first time which he has performed the Stunner either in the WWE.

During a match in 2017, KO used the Stunner on Roman Reigns. Not long afterward, he got some pointers on hitting the move from Austin himself on the latter’s own podcast.

Last night was Owens' first match in the WWE since October last year, where he lost against Bobby Lashley during an episode of Raw.

The Prizefighter took some time off from the WWE shortly after this match in order to have surgery on both of his knees.

When Owens left the WWE, he had just turned face following teaming up with Elias at Super Showdown vs Lashley and John Cena.

Judging by the way he was booked last night, it looks like the former Universal Champion will be a babyface for the time being, even though he took Kingston spot in the WWE title match at Fastlane.

Reports over the past few weeks as well have suggested that Owens will face Bryan again for the WWE title at WrestleMania later this year, although this could change thanks to the recent change to Fastlane on SmackDown this week.
