It was all to play for between Real Madrid and Barcelona at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night following the 1-1 draw at the Camp Nou earlier this month. But it was visitors who advanced to the Copa del Rey final thanks to a convincing 3-0 victory over their fierce rivals at the Bernabeu.Luis Suarez put Barça 1-0 up five minutes after half-time before a Raphael Varane own goal made it 2-0 to the away team with 20 minutes left to play.Suarez then made it 4-1 to Barça on aggregate with a cheeky Panenka penalty shortly afterwards.Defeat against Barcelona is always a bitter pill to swallow for Real Madrid fans - and the fact this was a heavy 3-0 loss at their home ground made it particularly difficult to take. However, there was one small crumb of comfort for the Madridistas: the performance of Vinicius Jr.The 18-year-old, who signed for Madrid at the age of 16 in a deal worth £38 million, terrorised Barça’s defenders during his 81 minutes on the pitch before eventually being subbed off for Marco Asensio. He ran Gerard Pique and co. ragged at times, leaving them with twisted blood on numerous occasions.Watch the footage of his individual highlights here…

However, Vinicius was obviously unable to get himself on the scoresheet or help Real Madrid avoid defeat.

Per Spanish football writer Dermot Corrigan, Vinicius finished the game with six shots, only one of which was on target.

Rik Sharma, another Spanish football writer, added that Vinicius has now scored three goals for Real Madrid from a total of 75 shots.

But these stats should hardly come as a surprise. It’s important to remember that Vinicius is 18 years old. Eighteen!

Of course he’s not the finished article at this moment in time. It’s crazy to think he would be.

Vinicius is reminiscent of a young Cristiano Ronaldo right now: all pace, trickery and flair but little end product.

End product, however, will come in time - as football journalist Euan McTear pointed out during Wednesday night’s Clasico.

“Remember, Cristiano Ronaldo couldn't finish his first couple years at Man United,” he tweeted. “Vinicius will be just fine. And devastating.”

Indeed, Ronaldo scored six goals in 40 games in his first season with Manchester United, and nine in 50 games the season after that.

It took time for the Portuguese superstar to become prolific in front of goal, and the same should be expected of Vinicius.

Still, this was a hugely encouraging individual performance from a player who appears to be destined for greatness.
