Barcelona just love playing their eternal rivals Real Madrid.

The Blaugrana have been the dominant force domestically since the turn of the millennium and have really held the upper hand over Los Blancos in El Clasico.

Ernesto Valverde's side recorded their second-consecutive 3-0 win at the Bernabeu last night, with a brace from Luis Suarez and a Raphael Varane own goal sealing passage to the Copa del Rey final.

Real's last big victory over their bitter enemies came back in 2016, when goals from Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo sealed an unlikely comeback win at the Camp Nou.

Since then, it's been very difficult for Los Blancos.

In Ronaldo's final season with the club, Real were beaten 3-0 at the Bernabeu and could only draw 2-2 in Catalonia despite Barca having 10 men.

Goals were hard to come by even with the Portuguese superstar in their ranks, but that didn't stop Barca fans tormenting their rivals about Ronaldo.

A video emerged on Twitter after the Clasico showing Barca fans chanting: "Where is CR7?"

Ouch, that's got to hurt.

Real's problems in front of goal have been evident all season, with Karim Benzema currently their top scorer on 19.

To put things into perspective, Barcelona's Lionel Messi has almost doubled that with 33 in all competitions already.

While Benzema's tally is still very good, it's not up to the ridiculous standard that Ronaldo set during his nine-year stint in the Spanish capital.

Replacing arguably the greatest goal scorer of all time is pretty much impossible, but Real will have to find some kind of solution if they are to match Barca and Messi sooner rather than later.

Santiago Solari after the match was quick to praise his team's performance and claimed they 'fell with honour'.

"Football is a forceful game," he said, per Marca. "We applied ourselves well, with energy, but we weren't decisive.

"We have fallen with honour but we're sad because this is a tough blow for us to take. It isn't a failure because it was a semi-final and we won't be able to play in the final, so we will have to try again."
