Manchester United defender Timothy Axel Tuanzebe broke a Guinness World Record during the club’s pre-season tour of the United States last summer.

The defender, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa, entered the record books after clearing the game Hungry Hippos in just 17.36 seconds.

Bizarre, huh?

Yet it’s not the only record that a Man United player has set this season.

Goalkeeper Sergio Romero has joined Axel Tuanzebe as a Guinness World Record holder by scoring the most goals from the halfway line in 60 seconds.

Romero took the challenge on with teammates Ander Herrera and Phil Jones.

Deploying a technique aimed at getting away as many shots as possible, the Argentinian managed to score 20 goals in a minute. That beat the previous record of five goals.

Good going that, Sergio.

Jones wasn’t far behind, scoring 19 times, while Herrera managed 14 goals.

“I didn’t expect it was going to be that though,” Herrera said afterwards.

Romero is expected to be back in the sticks when Man United take on Wolves in the quarter-final of the FA Cup on March 16.

The 32-year-old has served as David de Gea’s backup since his arrival at Old Trafford in 2015 but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has granted him opportunities in the cup competition.

And Romero has played in three FA Cup matches and conceded just once.

A trip to Molineaux won’t be easy but Man United have been revitalised under Solskjaer.

The Red Devils last won the FA Cup in 2013 but, having beaten Arsenal and Chelsea already in the competition, and with Manchester City the last remaining top four team, they will quietly be confident of lifting the trophy in May.

The thought of that happening wouldn’t have entered the minds of many fans during the first half of the campaign, when Jose Mourinho was still in charge.

The football was dull and he wasn’t getting the most out of his players.

Now, with Solskjaer in charge, FA Cup glory and a top four finish are both realistic targets.
