Serie A side Roma want to sign Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue for £5 million, according to Talksport.

The Italian side are looking to shore up their defence and would like to make a big signing before the end of the season.

Eboue’s Arsenal contract runs out this summer and the Gunners have yet to offer the Ivorian a new deal despite him being a popular figure around the Emirates Stadium.

Now Claudio Ranieri is hoping to step in and make Arsenal an offer they cannot refuse instead of waiting until the summer to sign him on a free transfer.

However, Arsene Wenger will hold out for £7 million despite the possibility of losing him for nothing at the end of the season as he would like to strengthen Arsenal’s defence rather than weaken it.
