Real Madrid have had a disappointing season so far.Julen Lopetegui was appointed as Zinedine Zidane's successor in the summer but, after winning just six of his first 14 games, he was sacked after just three months in the job.Los Blancos have been better under Santiago Solari but they have endured a poor couple of weeks.Solari had guided Real Madrid back into contention for the La Liga title, but their hopes of winning the league took a blow a few weeks back when they suffered a shock home defeat to Girona.Real Madrid managed to bounce back, narrowly defeating Levante the week after.

However, they endured another poor defeat on Wednesday as they were dumped out of the Copa del Rey by Barcelona.

Solari's side went into the game as favourites having drawn 1-1 at the Camp Nou, but they were well and truly beaten by their fierce rivals.

Luis Suarez scored twice and a Raphael Varane own goal gave Barcelona a 3-0 victory.

Understandably, the club have been widely criticised after their defeat at the Bernabeu.

One man that has voiced his displeasure is former Ream Madrid player and manager, Bernd Schuster.

Schuster ranted about his former club and had some stern criticism for Toni Kroos.

Speaking on El Transistor radio, Schuster said, per AS: "Right now, he is a diesel tractor, not a diesel Audi. He jogs around and does nothing."

But it seems Kroos has not let the criticism affect him.

Replying on Twitter, the 29-year-old simply said: "Who???"

The German also accused Dani Carvajal of playing like Alvaro Arbeloa.

Arbeloa reacted by backing up Kroos' tweet, saying: "No need to say anything else..."

Schuster also criticised his former club for selling Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer.

"Madrid are missing goals," he said, per the Daily Mail. "They lost the best scorer in their history this season."

He also had a go at Varane for his own-goal in Wednesday's Clasico.

"He's a shadow of what he was," he said of the French centre-back. "He was always badly positioned."

And Kroos' midfield partner, Luka Modric, was also targeted for his role in the Clasico defeat.

"He ran but we didn't see anything," he said. "Not a pass for a goal, not an important play either."
